This year, the Denver Nuggets won the North American NBA championship for the first time in history. The Slovenian representative, Vlatko Čančar from Koper/ Capodistria, also received a championship ring. In the Taverna in Koper/Capodistria city government prepared a reception for a champion as the most successful basketball player in this Slovenian port city.
He was the European champion with Slovenia, and now he is the NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets.
Vlatko signed autographs, took photos with young fans and together with Panathlon Club Primorska Slovenija member Arturo Steffe cut a giant champ cake. He also received a special award from the Municipality of Koper which he granted mayor Aleš Bržan.
