Morinari Watanabe re-elected as FIG President

DOHA (QAT), 25 October 2024.
Morinari Watanabe (JPN) has been re-elected FIG President for a four-year term (2025-2028) at the 85th FIG Congress in Doha today. The Congress also elected all FIG governing bodies.
Watanabe received 102 votes (65.38% of the vote), while his challenger Farid Gayibov (AZE) received 54 votes (34.62%).

The election of the President was followed by elections for the other FIG governing bodies. VICE-PRESIDENTS: Mr Ali AL-HITMI (QAT), Ms Naomi Chieko VALENZO AOKI (MEX) and Mr Suat CELEN (TUR). Among the committee presidents elected  by the FIG Congress our three countries have the following:
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee: Ms Donatella SACCHI (ITA)
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee: Ms Johanna GRATT (AUT)
Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee: Mr Marco PALELLA (ITA)
Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee: Ms Cristina CASENTINI (ITA)
