FIGC: Official News from the Executive Committee – November 2023

The FIG Executive Committee met for the last time of the year, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Gymnastics has been part of the country’s history since it became an independent nation in 1971, as the Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation was established a year later. The hard work and dedication of all its stakeholders paid off,  reaching its pinnacle when the first ever Bangladeshi gymnast took part in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The President and Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed officially inaugurated the meeting. In his speech, he emphasized how important it is for Bangladesh to host such an event. 

Here is a summary of the main decisions made by the Executive Committee: 

RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025 

The FIG EC allocated the 41st FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships to the Brazilian Gymnastics Federation. They will take place in Rio de Janeiro from 20 to 24 August 2025. 

ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024 

The EC decided not to hold the 29th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Holon (ISR). The bidding process has reopened (see separate Official Communication). The EC allocated the 2026 FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships to Holon (ISR).
